Judith A. Rubin, President

Judy Rubin began her career as an art teacher. A Licensed Psychologist and a Board-Certified Art Therapist, she has worked with people of all ages and conditions. She is a Faculty member of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute. An Art major at Wellesley College, Judy earned a Master's degree at Harvard, a Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh, and completed training in Adult and Child Analysis at the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute. Judy is a past President and Honorary Life Member of the American Art Therapy Association. In 2006 she was nominated for the National Medal in the Arts.

Eleanor  Irwin portrait

 

Eleanor C. Irwin, Vice-President

Ellie Irwin began her career as a drama therapist at the Pittsburgh Child Guidance Center. As Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh, she teaches, supervises and leads the Continuous Case Conference for child psychiatry residents. With a Ph.D. in Speech from the University of Pittsburgh, Ellie is a Licensed Psychologist, certified as a Trainer, Educator, and Practitioner in Psychodrama, and received the Schattner Award of the National Association for Drama Therapy. She completed training in Adult and Child Analysis at the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute, where she is certified as a Supervising and Training Analyst and is also the immediate past President.

Barry Cohen portrait

 

Barry M. Cohen, Executive Director

Barry M. Cohen began his career as a painter and stage director. Earning an MA in Expressive Therapies, he was a Child Life Specialist with hospitalized medically ill children and adolescents. A Board-Certified Art Therapist, Cohen worked at a general hospital with adult psychiatric patients, then co-founded a specialized treatment program for people with posttraumatic disorders. A professional meeting planner, he has managed and marketed numerous events. Cohen has received awards from the American Art Therapy Association and the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, and is the author/primary investigator of the Diagnostic Drawing Series, an internationally acclaimed art assessment tool.
