FOUNDERS Judy Rubin and Ellie Irwin have long been recognized as pioneers in the fields of art and drama therapy. Dr. Rubin initiated an art therapy program at Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic (WPIC) in 1964; at about the same time, Dr. Irwin began a drama therapy program at Pittsburgh Child Guidance Center (PCGC). ELLIE IRWIN Eleanor C. Irwin received her Ph.D. in Speech from the University of Pittsburgh in 1963. She received group therapy training from the Group Therapy Training Program in the Workshop in Living Learning, graduating in 1973; and from the New York Institute in Psychodrama in 1978.
