Do Not Go Gently explores the science of lifelong creativity with gerontologist Gene Cohen, MD, PhD, whose groundbreaking work provided a deeper understanding of the aging brain, celebrates three remarkable artists over the age 85—America’s fastest growing age group. Narrated by famed newsman Walter Cronkite, Do Not Go Gently highlights the role of creativity in contributing to a long, happy, and healthy life. The importance of making creative outlets available to older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related disabilities is also noted. This excerpt focuses on Gee’s Bend quiltmaker, Arlonzia Pettway.
