Prominent Art Therapists and their Journeys to Healing
This is a grouping of presentations from the Expressive Therapies in Medicine Institute in Alexandria, Virginia, April 2013. The first, presented by Dr.Judy Rubin, is a film about dance therapist Penny Lewis (DMT) and her means of coping with terminal colon cancer. The second presentation is by Laura Greenstone, MS, ATR-BC, LPC, titled, “Spare Parts: Perspectives on Art Making to Cope with Chronic Illness and Organ Transplantation.” Next is a presentation titled, “The Gift of Cancer: Tracking Longitudinal Embodied Narratives of Fragility and Resiliency through Art and Meditation,” by Michael A. Franklin, PhD, ATR-BC. The final presentation is Harriet Wadeson, PhD, LCSW, ATR-BC, HLM, titled, “Journaling Cancer in Words and Images.”
