Focusing-Oriented Arts Therapy (FOAT®) is a mindfulness-based approach that integrates Focusing, developed by Dr. Eugene Gendln, with the expressive arts therapies.   In this workshop presented at the 2nd World Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy Conference, Dr. Laury Rappaport presents an overview of Focusing-Oriented Arts Therapy including the history and development of Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy and Focusing-Oriented Expressive Arts Therapy; the FOAT® foundational principles; expressing a felt sense through the expressive arts; FOAT® Check-in and the three main approaches:Clearing a Space with Arts, Theme Directed FOAT®, and Focusing-Oriented Arts Psychotherapy. Highlights of the DVD include clinical examples of Theme Directed FOAT® and Focusing-Oriented Art Psychotherapy, with a specialty application to trauma.

In addition to hearing key points, you will see Dr. Rappaport in action facilitating a Focusing attunement, engaging participants to warm-up to using art materials, leading participants to express the Focusing Attitude in Art, and demonstrating a FOAT® Check-in that integrates a Gestalt processing of the art.
